Violet

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Now that I have finally figured out how to blog and navigate my way around my website I am trying to catch up on publishing things.  Today I am posting about our other pets that I haven’t been able to post before.  This is Violet our Northern Blue Tongued Skink.  She is a little bigger than 24 in. longer.  She comes from Austrailia.

Growing Up Obi

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Obi sure is growing up.   He recently turned one and is more spunky than ever.  He is learning things super fast.  He is the first puppy that I have ever had, and I am so pleased with him.  Obi will start puppy preschool in a few weeks.  I hope that he will do so well in the class that he can eventually advance to agility in the future.  I don’t think that I will have him compete, but just do the classes for fun.  I might even make a course in the back yard.

Recycled Sweater

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

I pulled this yarn out of a sweater that I bought awhile ago! I hadn’t had the guts to rip it out before now, because I didn’t have a pattern to use it with. I finally found a pattern for a shrug that I really like, and I look forward to starting it sometime this weekend. Oh, did I mention the sweater? It was way too big and too long for me, and it had a ton of fringe on the end of the sleeves. I couldn’t do anything wearing this sweater, because the sleeves were about four inches too long! Let’s just say it’s quite a bit smaller now. ;)  Check the “sewing” section for the knit rabbit with this yarn.

I finally got all the yarn from this sweater ripped out!  I was able to knit a shrug and a bunny rabbit from it all.  I ended up trading the last bits that I had from the yarn.  This project went so well that I have since ripped out 3 other sweaters and used the yarn with great success!  This will be a continuing thing :)  I will be adding pictures shortly.

Obi First Day

Jen’s been looking at puppies for awhile now. I’m not the most keen on having a lot of animals running around the house, but she has a soft spot for the critters. Yesterday, we made the decision to go find another puppy to (hopefully) be a playmate for our other dog. So we went out to the pet store (I know, we shouldn’t buy dogs from pet stores because it supports puppy mills) and found this little mug that we had to bring home.

Obi is a 12-week old miniature schnauzer. As you can see from the picture, he’s already got his own blanket. She made him a coat, too, but I don’t have pictures of that as of yet.

I do have to admit, he’s a cute little fuzzball. I’m not looking forward to the potty and obedience training, but Jen did agree to take on that responsibility herself. I can live with that. He gets along great with our daughter, Rebecca. Hopefully Duke - our lab mix - will eventually accept him.

The Top 10 Geekiest Yarn Creations on the Web

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

I admit it, I’m a serious nerd! I actually did a Google search on “knitted video games”. Who would do that? And what would would I have expected to find, anyway? Actually, I found exactly what I was looking for - go figure. This is so hilarious (Did I mention that I’m a nerd?).

I think I found something for Jen to do with that extra yarn she’s been wanting to use. (more…)
