Woven Quilt

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

I have no idea how to quilt, so this is my humble attempt at doing so.  I have sewn squares together to make throws and such, but I wanted something a little more in depth.  I came across a bunch of fabric that my MIL didn’t want any more and I wanted to put it to good use.  I took strips and I hand sewn them together after weaving them in and out of each other and pinning a LOT.   This took more time than I think taking a proper quilting class would have taken because where all the sections meet are sewn by hand.  We are all too scared to put this in the wash as we think that it may fall apart, so it is just a decoration for now.

Recycled Purse 2

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Okay, okay, I know it sounds weird.  But a “special” friend of mine made me get rid of all of my clothes that she didn’t like on me.  Not saying that she was wrong about them looking bad, but I didn’t really want to get rid of them either.  So this is how I salvaged parts of them.  I have no clue how to reproduce this again, so I am seeing patches on it a couple of years from now.  The pockets are from a second pair of pants, along with a belt that didn’t fit anymore for the handle.

Recycled Purse 1

My friend, skinny as a stick, offered me some pants that she didn’t like….size 4!!!!  Since I couldn’t wear them, ever in my life, I decided to do something with them.  I needed a new purse at the time, and loved the color of the pants.  I cut them into squares and made quilt pieces to sew into a purse.  The top zipper is the zipper from the leg of one of the pairs of pants, the quilting also goes inside the purse as the outside.  The pockets from the pants are sewn inside for extra storage.   The handle is taken off another broken purse.  It was the only part that I could salvage.  I love this purse.

Sling Purse

This is a purse that I have wanted for a long time.  Hubbs helped me to design the pattern.  There is a lot of hand sewing that goes into it, but well worth the time and effort.  I would like to make another smaller later on.

More Bears

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

For some reason, I couldn’t get these to show up on the other post. These are three more bears that I made. I’ve really been into making bears lately. Everyone needs more projects, right?
