Crochet Felted Bag
Saturday, June 21st, 2008This project was not only my first experience working with wool, but it was also my first felted project.
Hook Size P
Yarn Requirements
- 2 balls Blue
- 2 balls Pink
- 2 balls Yellow
- 2 balls Orange
- 2 balls black
- 1 ball multi-coloredYarn used: Plymouth Galway worsted weight
2 strands of yarn held throughout
worked in single crochet in both loops
Back and Front:
(worked the same)
Ch 51
*Using yellow, sc for 8 rows
Change color to pink, sc for 8 rows
Change color to orange, sc for 8 rows
Change color to bllue, sc for 8 rows
Repeat from * one more time
Tie off yarn and weave in ends
Add on border (see below).
Sides Handle and Bottom:
(worked in one piece)
Using multi colored yarn chain 13
continue sc rows till piece measures around the sides, bottom, and 1/3 the length more that you will want for the handle.
Tie off yarn and weave in the ends.
Add on border (see below)
You may want to connect the handle together before adding on the border. I did not, but would if I were making this again.
Border:
Same for all pieces
Using 2 strands of black crochet around all edges of worked pieces for 2 rows.
Increase 2 stitches on each edge to keep border from pulling piece in.
Attach all pieces together using one strand of black yarn.
You also may add pockets inside with the leftover yarn. I did and felted them already sewn on and it worked just fine.
Felt and use
Afterthought button flap:
(this has not been felted, but could be made a little larger and felted)
Ch 11
Sc to desired length (about 8 inches)
at end of that row, ch 2 (instead of the normal one before turning)
Dc in next 2 sts, ch 4, skip 4 sts, dc in last 3 sts
sc 2 more rows making sure to have 10 sts per row
