Luceal Bag
Monday, February 18th, 2008This makes a cute, felted mini bag with stiched on handle for stability. Perfect felted bag for carrying a large water bottle. Have fun! This yarn was hand dyed and spun just for me by a dear friend. I know everyone loves it! But she won’t spin any more, she hated the thin and thick of the yarn….too bad that’s what I loved the most.
You need:
200 yds. worsted weight yarn (100% wool) - Your favorite color
Size 9 - 16 in. circular needles
Bottom:
Cast on 15 stitches (sts.).
Continue in stockinette stitch (st.) until there are 20 rows complete.
Body:
Pick up 15 sts. on each side of the square to start knitting in the round (60 sts. total).
Continue knitting in the round until it measures 12 inches.
Bind off (b.o.) all sts.
Handles:
Cast on 9 sts.
Knit in stockinette st. until handle reaches 12 inches.
b.o. all sts.
Fold in half width-wise and sew along edge with a whip st.
Make a second handle, but only knit to 6 inches.
b.o. all sts.
Fold in half width-wise and sew along edge with a whip st.
Attach handles across from each other and felt the bag.
To use handle, slip larger handle through smaller one and pull up.
This closes the top of the bag and makes for easier use.
